I wrestled her in August 1994, and here is what I remember. Hope you like the report....
My appetite had been whetted the previous April, when I got an e-mail reply from another wrestling enthusiast named Bigfoot, who wrote:
"I know Karla, Thea and Tigra quite well. Have you wrestled a girl in NYC named Jade? She is only 130 lbs., but is the strongest woman I have ever met. She is a track athlete with a body like Flo Jo's and a beautiful face. I know she has beaten Thea wrestling, and I think she could easily beat Karla and Tigra. She has incredible strength and amazing endurance."
Someone later told me that Bigfoot was a former football lineman, and a pretty large gentleman.
Four months later, I had a chance to find out if Bigfoot was right. I went to the apartment that Jade had as a wrestling site, and his description was pretty accurate. Though not as lean as Flo Jo, Jade had an athletic build with some definition in her arms, and she topped off that solid frame with an angelic baby face that could grace a modeling calendar. She was not as muscular as Dawn Whitham, Christine Marshall or a lot of ladies her size that I've wrestled. When she flexed, I'd guess that her biceps were maybe 13 1/2'', which is good, but not immense.
Jade was a great talker, which made the match that much more fun. Dancing was a passion for her, and she said she danced with Paul Abul in her "Opposites Attract" video. Only problem was you'd never see Jade, because she did the steps that were illustrated by the dancing cartoon cat that was Paula's shifty boyfriend in the video.
As far as the match goes, I was 6-2 and 190, but Jade was still too strong for me. Unlike Bigfoot, I don't think she was the strongest woman I've met, but she was one of the best wrestlers--quick and agile, as well as strong. Whether we started standing or on our knees, the result was the same — a brief struggle (very brief, usually), after which she'd completely overwhelm me and either pin me or make me submit with her headlock.
During one of the pins, when she was laying on top of me, holding me wrists firmly to the ground, she said, "I only weigh 138. Have you ever been beaten by a 138-pound girl before?"
The answer was No, as in "No, ma'am." We wrestled about 10 times and she won every fall. It was the first match where I didn't win at least once. I even got one fall from Karla Nelsen and Thea Bennington, and a couple from Dawn Whitham.
Toward the end of the match, I got Jade on her back briefly, but couldn't keep her there, and she rolled me over and wound up with another pin. I cursed my luck at missing my big chance for a pin, so she let me start the next fall by putting her in a schoolboy pin. I put all my weight and strength into it as best I could, but I still couldn't hold her down. She threw me off, got me in another crushing hold, and pinned me again. That basically told me that if we wrestled 100 times, I'd have virtually no chance of ever beating her.
At the time,
she said she loved wrestling, would always do it and had some big plans.
One of those was plans was to open up a phone line with authentic female
athletes, but I know she had trouble getting reliable workers and it was
a grind. By 1996, her phone numbers were disconnected and she pretty much
disappeared from the wrestling scene, as best I know.
I, too, wrestled Jade. We got together
in '94 at my hotel suite in New York. My experience was similar to
yours. I spent most of the time looking at the ceiling. She
was deceptively strong and faster than any woman I had ever wrestled.
Just when I thought I was making progress in escaping a hold, she had already
applied her next hold on me. For 45 minutes, she pinned me again
and again or made me submit. Her scissors were inescapable.
She cut off my breath and blood circulation. I could not take the
pain of her head scissors, so we agreed she could only apply body scissors,
leg scissors, and arm scissors. The final 15 minutes of our hour
were spent with her giving me a massage. I needed it. I was
pooped and my body was sore. I did not win a
single fall. She told me that her
boyfriend was a professional wrestler and he taught her a lot of holds
and counters. I forgot her boyfriend's ring name. I guess her
strength and stamina came from her track and field
training. She really didn't even
work up a sweat. Atr least she didn't gloat about her victory over
me. What's more, I was her fifth match that day. I was 185 lbs. at
the time giving me an edge of about 50 lbs. Despite
my weight advantage, she dominated the
match. When I did get on top of her, it was very temporary. She'd
quickly throw me over and take the upper hand. I bet she's never
had her shoulders pinned to the mat or had to cry uncle. Pound for
pound, Jade is probably stronger than any girl I've wrestled except Linda
Dickerson (5'l", 130 lb).
I'd like to add to these list of wrestling encounters with Jade (ET). First of all, atheletically I'm no slouch - I'm 6'0 195 lbs and can bench press over 250 pounds. I had wrestled a few female bodybuilders before my encounter with "Jade" , and while I found their holds (many unearned) fairly tight, they were not the most competitive of wrestlers. I also found myself trying to find someone to wrestle like her after she told me she was giving it up for awhile to pursue her music, but I still have not. Here is my story....
In July 1994 met Jade at her apartment
in downtown Manhattan. I had to wait for awhile, but when she finally opened
the door I thought to myself, "Wow, this girl is beatiful." Indeed she
was, but she wasn't very big at all -maybe 140 pounds tops- she looked
more like a fashion model. We talked for a long time before our match (she
was very nice and we had a lot in common) then we went into our prospective
rooms to dress
for battle.
When she came out in her suit I noticed that she had some muscle on her, but was nowhere as big as the other girls I had faced. I stretched a little, thinking that I'd take it easy on her; Then the match began. Within 30 seconds she had me in a killer headlock and flipped me down onto the mat. I got up to my knees and flipped her over, but she squirmed free. She then put me in a chokehold and earned a submission very rapidly- total time of first fall less than three minutes. "Okay- I thought,Lucky-now I'll get serious. We began to wrestle again. Her hands were so fast that it was tough to follow. Within another 30 seconds she had me down on the mat again and had me in a combination full nelson and scissors. I could hardly breathe. Submission earned once again in under three minutes.- This gorgeous girl 50 pounds lighter was Destroying me!!!
I'd found myself suddenly very confused. I wanted to be able to defeat her, but at the same time was loving every moment of her domination. And domination it was. She was hardly even breaking a sweat. After submitting to her two more times we took a break for some Gatorade and I thought to myself," At least I haven't been pinned". But the match was still young. After actually being able to hold her off for a couple of minutes, she once again manuvered me onto my stomach. With an incredible force she put me into an arm lock and drove my left shoulder into the mat, flipping me over immediately. Before I could get up I was straddled between her legs, with her unbelievablely firm ass grinding into me as my shoulders were pinned to the mat I couldn't move. I was being totally controlled by this deceptively tiny but dangerous woman.......
Jade (ET) was a great wrestler, and
could have been a good friend but she totally disappeared- from wrestling,
from New York, from any kind of contact. It would be nice if she would
"appear" again......
